Frequently Asked Questions
General Information
Who can enroll in Lake County Christian Virtual Academy?
Students ready for 6th – 12th grades (beginning in August, 2026) may enroll in Lake County Christian Virtual Academy.
What curriculum does Lake County Christian Virtual Academy use?
Lake County Christian Virtual Academy uses curriculum published by BJU Press.
Are there Christian or biblical studies included in the curriculum?
BJU Press curriculum is wholely based on a Biblical worldview. This worldview is deeply incorporated into each and every subject as well as taught separately as a complete subject.
What is the parent’s role with LCCVA?
LCCVA is a support for homeschooling, so parents are the primary facilitators. Parents will help answer questions and hold students accountable for completing assignments. The LCCVA Academic advisor will assist you by grading assignments, providing bi-weekly progress reports and end-of-year grades and report cards. The BJU curriculum provides the primary instruction and lesson plans for the year.
Academic/Scheduling Questions
Is daily instruction live or self-paced?
Daily instruction is recorded so that you can adjust the schedule to meet the needs of your family.
How is student progress tracked and assessed?
Students will be graded online. All final grades will be recorded on a report card held by Lake County Christian Academy. Transcripts will also be available as needed.
Do students need to log in at specific times each day?
No! Students may log in as your family schedule allows. Parents can set the schedule that works for your family and for your individual student needs.
Can students work at their own pace?
Students are encouraged to work at their own pace. We have a suggested pacing guide which can be adapted to meet each student’s individual needs. This allows for students to make up classes that they have previously taken but need to redo, or even work ahead if that is a good option.
What technology or devices are needed?
Students need to provide their own technology. A desktop computer, laptop, Chromebook or large tablet device are recommended. Phones are not recommended due to their small screen size.
Is internet access required at all times?
Internet is needed to stream the instructional classes, but not to work on the workbook pages or offline projects. There will be times when internet is not needed for class projects. Classes may not be downloaded, so internet access is needed for those.
